Spicy cauliflower soup

600ml water

200 cauliflower florets, cut into small pieces

1 big potato, peeled

1 teaspoon coriander powder

1 teaspoon mustard seeds

1 teaspoon cumin seeds

1 teaspoon turmeric

1 pinch asafoetida

1 dry red chilli

15 curry leaves

salt and pepper

1 tablespoon oil

Heat the oil in a pot. Add the cumin and mustard seeds. When they start to splutter add the coriander powder, asafoetida, chilli, turmeric and curry leaves. Stir well.

Add the potatoe, chopped in big chunks. Stir until they are coated with spices. Reduce to medium heat. After 2-3 minutes, add the water.

Bring to a boil, add the cauliflower. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for about 15 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.

Blend quickly, so that small pieces of cauliflower can still be found.

Decorate with some curry leaves.
